Next-generation centrifuges from ThermoFisher are designed to tackle increasingly complex workflows using advanced components and improved performance.
The General Purpose Pro Centrifuges incorporate new touchscreen technology, enabling easy menu access to a host of features. The Centrifuge Health option provides alerts for preventative maintenance and measures to avoid instrument downtime. Temperature control allows the instrument to prepare prior to a run. A pulse option permits one-touch quick spins. The help option serves as a virtual user’s manual offering quick solutions without going offline for help.
Rotor Switching — the centrifuges are compatible with Thermo’s new Auto-lock II rotor exchange system and allow quick switching of rotors within seconds without the need for tools.
Rotor compatibility — the instruments are also well-suited for use with Thermo’s new Fiberlite carbon fiber rotors which are corrosion-resistant, lightweight, extremely durable, and backed up with a 15-year limited warranty.
Safety and Containment — the centrifuges accommodate Thermo’s new ClickSeal biocontainment lids for the safe handling of biological samples.
The instruments can spin up to 40 conical tubes (50 mL) or 196 blood sample tubes at once. They support greater sample reproducibility and sample safety. The systems have a compact footprint and are available as 1.6 L and 4 L floor or benchtop models.

The next-generation Orbitrap Ascend Tribrid Mass Spectrometer offers advanced capabilities for multiplexed proteomics and native protein characterization. Improved sample throughput and expanded versatility result in a system that can analyze more samples with greater sensitivity for a wider variety of applications.
The Ascend Tribrid can reach single-cell sensitivity for high-resolution proteomics and metabolomics investigations. The instrument benefits from positioning the collision cell forward, allowing for increased speed and throughput.
The platform was recently leveraged alongside FAIMS (high-field asymmetric ion mobility spectrometry) for label-free single-cell proteomics investigations of mammalian cells with unprecedented sensitivity and proteome coverage.
Real time search acquisition methods unique to the Orbitrap Tribrid have enabled several approaches towards TMT multiplexed labeled experiments. These solutions will help investigations go beyond analysis of a single cell at a time to enable hundreds of cells to be analyzed per day. Large-capacity, high-accuracy, high-throughput investigations will help in achieving true biological insights in single-cell investigations.
